WHEN THE LINK DROPS

SITUATION

Origin had to be proven for every load, at six sites, on links that drop.

Under the EU Deforestation Regulation, every load of wood entering the six production locations has to be traced back to where it was cut, and the wood comes from South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. The records that prove it live in supplier documents and in the systems already installed at each site, and the links between the sites are not always up.

WHAT WAS BUILT

AHEAD Edge runs on twenty-four edge nodes across the six locations. It reads the supplier documents and the site systems already in place, builds the origin chain for every load from the source country through to the finished product, and flags any load with a missing or inconsistent origin to the person responsible before it goes further. Nothing already installed was replaced.

HOW IT RUNS

On the client's own hardware, inside the client's network. When a site's link drops, its node keeps tracing on its own and holds what has to travel, then resynchronizes with the other sites when the link returns. No document and no record leaves the client's network.

WHAT CHANGED

Origin is proven for every load before it enters production, the due diligence record the regulation asks for comes out of the system instead of being assembled by hand, and the sites keep tracing through an outage.
